Volkswagen Announces the Refreshed 2025 Taos

by

Volkswagen’s smallest crossover is getting an overhaul for the 2025 model year. The Taos, which debuted a few years ago, will see refreshed exterior styling, new interior fixtures, and an upgraded turbocharged engine.

The 2025 Taos receives a revised front end with a new bumper, updated grille, an available LED light bar, and standard LED projector headlights. An illuminated VW badge is available for the rear, and the automaker will offer three new paint colors: Bright Moss Green, Monterey Blue Pearl, and Monument Gray. There are also new wheel choices depending on the trim.

The interior sees a new dash design with upgraded materials and more color choices. VW equips an eight-inch floating infotainment touchscreen and said that the Taos features more sound deadening for a quieter cabin. The base S comes with cloth upholstery, while the SE and SE Black trims get synthetic leather. The SEL comes with genuine hides in either black/grey or dark blue.

Volkswagen massaged the turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, bumping output from 158 horsepower to 174. The seven-speed dual-clutch has also been replaced by an eight-speed automatic that VW said would enhance drivability and refinement.

The IQ.Drive safety suite is standard for all variants. It brings forward collision warnings and automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and more.

We don’t have pricing for the new crossover yet, but VW said it would offer more details closer to the Taos’ launch later in 2024.
