Cadillacs used to produce dramatic, over-the-top luxury vehicles with traffic-stopping style, but the automaker’s designs have become far more mundane in recent times. Even so, the recent Sollei Concept shows that Cadillac still has some tricks up its sleeve, as the open-top car is one of the most stunning cars to wear the iconic badge in decades.
Looking somewhat like a blend between the ultra-high-end Celestiq and a Rolls-Royce, the Sollei convertible features four bucket seats and acres of elaborate wood trim in its cabin. Cadillac chose a striking yellow hue for the vehicle, which carries over into the cabin with yellow leather and other accents.
Like the Celestiq, the Sollei would be a custom-ordered, bespoke vehicle if Cadillac pushes it to production. As such, it gets a long list of top-notch materials, including Nappa leather upholstery with a pink iridescent pigment that gives the cabin a color-changing effect and textured floor mats that match the convertible roof fabric.
Interestingly, the Sollei comes with bird-watching accessories, including 3D-printed acrylic bird calls, a leather-bound journal, and a leather tool roll for pens and pencils. It’s unclear how that fits with the car’s name and design, other than to be something an ultra-wealthy owner might like to brag about.
Despite its attractive design and unique features, the Sollei is “just” a concept car, which means we may never see it in production. That said, Cadillac has an entire design studio dedicated to bespoke Celestiq builds, so it wouldn’t be a giant leap to put the Sollei on sale.
