The Kia EV6 had made waves with its styling and the performance GT model, and it appears the crossover is poised for an update. Yesterday, Kia teased a revised EV6 with a new headlight design and slightly massaged tail lights, and we expect more substantive changes with longer range estimates and interior updates.
InsideEVs spotted the teaser photos, pointing out that the EV6’s new headlight design more closely aligns with the larger EV9. It retains Kia’s signature “tiger nose” grille, and the tail lights now have a small triangular shape at each end.
While we don’t know what Kia has planned for the EV’s propulsion options, a larger battery pack is likely. The GT variant may also pick up some of the performance goodies seen in the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, including simulated gear changes and other updates. However, this is all speculation at the moment.
Expect evolutionary changes inside, where Kia may give the EV6 a slightly revised dash design, updated seats, and new colors or accent choices. That said, the crossover is already one of the more compelling options on the market, even without federal tax credit eligibility.
Kia and Hyundai’s push into electrification has been more aggressive than some, with both rolling out new models with better tech, more attractive styling, and truly impressive performance. The EV6 sold almost 19,000 units in 2023, up from just over 18,000 the year before. Though the automaker may need to boost hybrid sales due to finicky American EV buyers, the vehicle appears to be on track for more growth in 2024.
