QOTD: Are Tariffs The Right Move?

by

qotd are tariffs the right move

Two days ago President Biden announced heavy tariff increases on China that will push tariffs on Chinese-built electric vehicles past 100 percent.

Is this the right way to prevent Chinese EVs, particularly ones that are cheaper and better equipped that EVs from Western and non-Chinese Asian automakers, from coming to our market and kicking butt?

Or are they just rank protectionism that will instead keep quality vehicles out of our market and limit competition? Wouldn’t the automakers already selling here be better off being forced to build better vehicles to compete with Chinese entrants?

Before you answer, this is another political QOTD, so keep the comments civil or face the banhammer.

Sound off below.
