Mini recently overhauled its long-running Cooper model, but the upcoming John Cooper Works (JCW) edition won’t bring the commensurate boost in performance for the car that it usually does. The electrified next-gen cars will share a 215-horsepower front-axle-mounted motor, giving them modest range and acceleration numbers.

While the outgoing JCW had an almost 50-horsepower advantage over the standard car, Mini opted for a single drivetrain across the line this time around. That means the same 6.7-second 0-62 (100 km/h) time and 250-mile range on the WLTP cycle.

The new JCW will look significantly different from the standard car, bringing a red roof, hood graphics, and mirror caps. It also gets JCW-branded red brake calipers, gloss-black body accents, and exclusive two-tone wheels.

Inside, the JCW carries the same funky cabin design as its tamer counterpart. The round display screen, unique textured dash, and minimalist cockpit mirror the regular car, only with plenty of sporty red accents. The dash gets red checkered flag graphics, while the seats feature synthetic leather and cloth upholstery with red accent stitching.

Mini hasn’t announced pricing for the car, but we should learn more closer to its launch in 2025. The automaker has a range of electrified vehicles coming, including the Countryman, also expected for a 2025 release.
