Lucid’s Air sedan is one of the most impressive EVs to hit the market yet, and the automaker recently confirmed that it’s only a matter of weeks before we see its next creation. Lucid will pull back the curtain on the Gravity, an ultra-plush electric SUV that promises staggering performance and a deluxe interior.
The new Gravity will be unveiled at this year’s LA Auto Show in mid-November and will enter production late next year. We don’t know a ton about the upcoming model, but Lucid has shared teaser images and video that show a two- or three-row SUV with seating for up to seven. The automaker has promised a thrilling driving experience and impressive range, so it’s likely the Gravity brings specs similar to the Air.
The Gravity has only been shown in glimpses, however, so we don’t have a complete picture of its styling elements. The front end shares much of its shape and basic look with the Air, and the SUV appears to have an upright shape with sleek lighting fixtures. Though we’ve seen flashes of the interior and seating configuration, the automaker also hasn’t shown a complete overview of the cabin.
Lucid’s vehicles are noteworthy but far from affordable, leaving the company with a bit of a demand problem. The Air is too expensive to qualify for government tax credits, and other automakers are closing in on its performance and range, sometimes at lower price points. While the vehicles might be worth their deep-six-figure price tags, they face an uphill battle against cheaper EVs with comparable performance.
