The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N will be here soon, bringing impressive performance and tech tricks that make its electric powertrain scream when asked. Even though it’s not on sale yet, spy photographers have already caught the automaker testing what appears to be its next hotted-up EV, which is assumed to be the Ioniq 6 N.

Spy shots recently came from the Nurburgring, where Hyundai was spotted testing a unique-looking Ioniq 6 sedan. It sports large five-spoke wheels, giant brakes, and red calipers that indicate it’s something more than a normal EV.

The Ioniq 6 N, if that is what we’re seeing, will likely get powertrain options similar to its predecessor. That would mean up to 641 horsepower and 545 pound-feet of torque, all-wheel drive, and a range of go-fast upgrades that improve grip, acceleration, and feel. The test car sported the standard Ioniq 6 bodywork, but the N version will get more aggressive aero and other changes that help it stand out.

Hyundai hasn’t made a peep about the car, but the prototype’s testing activities suggest it won’t be long before the teaser train leaves the station. An official release sometime late in 2025 seems reasonable, though the automaker may want to play wait-and-see with the Ioniq 5 N’s reception before jumping in with both feet on another performance EV.
